BMW will join Formula E for its fifth season in 201801/04/2017
"German automaker BMW will join Formula E for its fifth season starting in 2018. BMW's application has been officially accepted by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). BMW will work with Michael Andretti's team to develop the automaker's entrant.
BMW has been involved with Formula E since its first season, when it included an i8 plug-in hybrid as the circuit's safety car. Formula E also uses a BMW i3 electric vehicle as its medical car. FIA's approval clears BMW to participate in Formula E's fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons. BMW will join OEMs such as Renault, Jaguar Land Rover, and Penske Autosport.
Last October, Mercedes-Benz signed an "option agreement" to also join the circuit during its fifth season. Audi made a similar announcement last September, committing to enter a factory-built car in the circuit. Jaguar also made its announcement to enter Formula E last September."
