Fully Electric BMW 3 Series Coming Soon21/07/2016
The all-new BMW 3 Series is due to arrive in 2018, placing it far ahead of the competition, as the model will be available in petrol and diesel but is also set to conquer the electric market, rivalling the Tesla Model 3, with “not only a plug-in hybrid version of the car but also a fully electric edition”.
The 2018 3 Series will also be lighter than before, using “carbon-fibre construction technology” in a newly structured chassis, which similar to the recent 7 Series will use the “CLAR” architecture, allowing this model to shed an expected 80kg and giving it the potential to become the “lightest car in the small executive class”. Shedding this weight will also enable the cars performance to have a dramatic boost through its “handling agility”.
It is not only the cars form which will be getting a revamp, however, as with a “new range of three, four and six-cylinder engines [the 3 Series is set] to trump the likes of the A4 and XE on CO2 emissions”.
The 2018 BMW 3 Series is expected to make its debut next autumn “with sales starting in early 2018.”
