Auto Express reviews the BMW M140i20/10/2016
“Will suit those after a great engine and chassis combination”
More power, greater torque and improved fuel economy… the newly named BMW M140i (previously M315i) has had more than just a name change!
As part of the widespread updates to the BMW range, the BMW M140i has had its “characterful” six-cylinder engine enhanced so that it now offers “up to 335bhp from 321bhp”. As well as this, the engine has been given an “extra 50Nm of torque” to make it much more powerful without compromising the smooth acceleration.
In typical BMW fashion, the BMW M140i maintains a rear-wheel drive design which is rare amongst competitor hatchbacks. This is something that Auto Express enjoys, stating that it makes the car “balanced and feel alive on the road, with just enough slip to give it a lively edge”.
Further improvements include greater fuel economy of “up to 39.8mpg from 37.7mpg”, which is extremely impressive considering the size and power of the six-cylinder engine. On top of this, the Series is now only emitting “163g/km of CO2” making tax cheaper.
